The preschool that Jack and Owen have both gone to does a really cute Christmas program. However, I've never had a kid that would participate! My kids are not fans of performing. Luckily, I was able to bribe Jack this year (with our go-to bribe, a Hot Wheel) and he actually dressed up and sang with the other kids! I was most surprised that he put on the shepherd costume, most of it anyway (not the head covering).
Here's the video of him singing: http://youtu.be/HRcR1MrRgmk
After a lot of begging, we finally took the boys to get a Christmas tree. We were putting it off this year since last year our tree was so brown by Christmas that we had to get another one. So we stalled as long as we could. Luckily, we have a store nearby that sells Christmas trees for $9.98. What a deal, right? Of course, they're not the prettiest trees. I'm pretty sure they're the leftover trees that the others sellers didn't take. But you can't beat the price, so it works for us.
Even Emmett got in on the decorating. He would proudly put an ornament on the tree and then promptly take it off. Needless to say, our tree is now only decorated on the top half and the presents won't be put under it until Christmas Eve.
Owen got to play soccer again this year on team Daredevil with Robby as his coach. The first half of the season started out a little rough but the team ended up doing awesome. Owen scored lots of goals and is already counting down until next season. Jack is also counting down until next season when he'll finally get to play!
The kids decided they wanted to be Phineas, Ferb, and Perry the Platypus this year. It took me a while to figure out how I was going to do it but their costumes turned out awesome. Unfortunately, I never got a really good picture. The day we took their picture, Jack had been wearing his costume all day and his red hair dye was all over his shirt. And Emmett wouldn't hold still for a picture (shocking!). So this is the best we got:
We celebrated Emmett's birthday with his cousin Isaac. Their birthdays are just a couple of weeks apart so we decided to have one big party for the both of them. I've learned my lesson though and won't do a kid's birthday at the same time as a BYU football game though. It ended up being the kids and moms celebrating while all the dads watched the game.
Robby and I met at BYU. We were married in 2003. Had Owen in February of 2005. Moved to CA a few months later. Had Jack in September of 2007. Then we had Emmett is 2010. We love it here in California especially since we live close to so much family.
